Do you like our new look & feel?Kimberly Webb - the epitome of success
Obstacles mean nothing to Kimberly Webb. In fact, they are stepping stones to success for the Mount Alvernia High School Head Girl.
Webb, a former Junior Mayor of Montego Bay, is currently the President of the Quiz and Debating Societies, as well as the Public Relations Officer for her school’s dance troupe.
Obviously a goal-oriented young woman, Webb, who was installed as Montego Bay’s Junior Mayor in November 2009, has done well academically and was recently part of the Western Junior Theatre ‘Wi Deh Pon di Block’ Concert Series staged at the Fairfield Theatre in Montego Bay.
“As far as liking those go, I can’t say I prefer one to another. Each comes with its own responsibilities as well as rewards; more often responsibilities but I still manage to cope,” Webb shared in a recent interview with Youngstazz.
She explained that: “I’ve learnt that you cannot ever be easily deterred. It will get hard, you will want to quit and people will talk, but when all else fails, you just have to be able to look at the task ahead and say hard work goes before success.”
Webb further explained that there have been no regrets on her part, as it relates to her positions of leadership and sometimes strenuous tasks of academic multitasking.
“I truly regret nothing. Every mistake or wrong turn to this point only made me grow smarter, wiser, stronger and more humble.”
What is her strategy and how does she know when to strike a balance? She admitted, “Firstly, I must say that balancing comes naturally. I get bored too easily to focus on one thing too long. So, whenever it seems overwhelming, I just think of my father saying ‘Mediocrity is never acceptable’ and so that becomes my motivation.”
A strong-willed and steadfast, young woman, Webb shared that she has great plans for the future which can only be made possible by the purposeful desires of the Lord.
“I’d like to go into agriculture eventually, but medicine is the immediate dream. Other than hoping the world doesn’t end, my only wish for 2012 is that I’ll be proud of what I’ve done at the end of everything,” she went on.
This young achiever believes that other young people like herself can achieve their dreams if they only believe and work hard.
“Though advise in not my strong suit because I think everyone should make their own mistakes and learn that way, still, if there is one thing I would like anyone to remember is this. Achieving success is a very different thing from failing, but anything is better than not trying at all. Do one thing every day that scares you. ”
According to her, “In the end you will see that fear was the only thing keeping you back.”
