A popular political activist, allegedly linked to the People’s National Party (PNP), was gunned down by unknown assailants in West End, Negril, Westmoreland, yesterday morning (Thursday, May 10).
Dead is Michael Dawes, also known as ‘Mikey’, a businessman of a West End address in Negril.
According to Police reports, about 11:30 a.m., Dawes was on the construction site, overseeing the erection of his house when gunshots were heard.
His body was found with multiple gunshot wounds to its upper region.
Dawes, who was a known constituency leader for the PNP in Western Westmoreland, was taken to Sav-la-Mar Hospital where he was pronounced dead.
The Westmoreland Police say robbery may have been at the heart of the killing.
