Where are we (JAMAICANS) heading?
The biblical Solomon in Christendom is said to have been the wisest of men; yet it took him the hindsight of a lifetime of dealing and not successfully coping with three hundred wives and seven hundred concubines (one thousand members of the opposite sex) to discover that a continuous dropping on a rainy day was like a contentious woman in a broad house. I have no doubt that it would have occurred to him sooner had he the opportunity of dealing with some of the garrulous types that appear on Jamaican TV from time to time. It is apparent that there are some of us totally unable to distinguish between man-made errors that cause anguish and the ravages of a natural phenomenon.
Putting Montego Bay to work
Montego Bay is the second largest city in the English speaking Caribbean, with an enviable stock of real estate and business opportunities coupled with its strategic location which make the city well positioned for propulsive economic take-off. They must now go out and work to consolidate the gains they have achieved. The ultimate goal of state power have not been accomplished and the road to that goal is fraught with many a pothole. Make no mistake, men like Mike Henry who toiled in the wilderness/opposition for innumerable years and who are now demigods with cash rich ministries will not cede power in the face of an obviously well mobilized PNP conference, they are going to use the financial resources of their offices to offset any gains the PNP has made....WHITHER JAMAICAN MUSIC?
I once read an article on Bob Marley written by a leading Jamaican public figure, in which he compared the message of Marley’s music with the escapism of American pop music. In exulting Bob for his message, he also included a few others who were inclined in that direction, but he definitely excluded the great many whose works we no longer hear on Jamaican radio these days. ...- CORNWALL REGIONAL: a recovery room or morgue?
